A giant step for mankind in Alderholt
4:46pm Friday 30th July 2010

THE spectacle of the Alderholt Giant rumbling through the streets caused a stir on Saturday.
Each year hundreds of people pay tribute to the giant and follow its footsteps around the village.
Dorset Police braved the streets and brought traffic to a halt to make way for the giant procession.
Vicar Philip Martin told the Journal that the Alderholt giant makes people smile, and reminds them that all of us, like James the pilgrim, are on a spiritual journey, and challenges us to ‘think big'.
He added: “The procession is an extremely well attended event and a little bit different, but then, Alderholt is a little bit different.”
