Olympic opportunity for dancer

A SALISBURY dancer is celebrating being picked to take part in the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Jeni Colton will be among the massed ranks of 10,000 dancers performing to a worldwide audience of billions.

No details of their routines or formations are being released.

All she knows is that she will have to travel up to London about 23 times to take part in rehearsals.

Jeni trained at the Colton Dancing Academy, founded by her mother Valerie in 1976. She has a full-time job in the accounts department at Edwards Ford, Salisbury, but still helps out at the academy, which is now run by her sister, Ellen Bath.

She also appears with Musical Theatre Salisbury – formerly the Amateur Operatic Society.

Jeni is hoping to find sponsors to help with her travel and accommodation costs for the rehearsals. Anyone willing to help is asked to ring her on 01722 415568 or email jen1c@tiscali.co.uk.
