St Edmund's interview day

STUDENTS at St Edmund’s School gained a taste of the world of work last week when they faced interviews with a team of local employers.

The Year 10 students presented their CVs and application letters before sitting down to questions from the professionals.

Chiara Franchi was interviewed by Bryony Holland from Trethowans Solicitors and she said she was asked demanding but helpful questions. “I learned that you need to be positive and confident at interview,” she said.

Natalie Tan said: “I was asked a set of questions I might be asked in other interviews and was given good feedback.”

The employers also benefitted from the experience, which was organised by the school’s work experience coordinator Keren Barnes. “This was a good morning spent with a very enthusiastic young people,” said John Page from Mencap.

Nigel Carter from En-Venture said: “What I found amazing was that here was a group of students at 14, not quite 15 but with a self confidence and a maturity that was most impressive.”
